Description

Season 3 of MasterChef South Africa kicks off in one of the most impressive venues in the world, with chefs Benny Masekwameng and Pete Goffe-Wood making a dramatic entrance aboard a fishing trawler into Cape Town harbour and introducing the newest celebrity judge for the new series: award-winning Franschoek chef Reuben Riffel. Only 120 amateur cooks are selected from more than 6000 hopefuls to prepare a dish for our three chef judges. After tasting their creations, the judges hand out only a select number of aprons – a ticket to the Masterchef Bootcamp.

The Bootcamp finalists who made it through the first round of auditions join them on the harbour to cook a special dish of one of South Africa’s sustainable fish species: Angelfish. By the end of this challenging day, only the best will advance to the next phase of Bootcamp and have a final chance to win a place in the MasterChef kitchen.

Twelve made it to the kitchen, and now there are only two left. They battle it out in a marathon three-challenge showdown cheered on by their nearest and dearest and all of their fellow Top 12 contestants.

Over three challenges, they cook alongside one of the world’s culinary legends, Chef Marco Pierre White, to see who gets to claim the title of South Africa’s next MasterChef.
