Description
Phil Glenister (Ashes To Ashes) and internationally renowned car designer Ant Anstead return for a second season of For The Love Of Cars, celebrating the motors that have shaped the way we have driven for the last 70 years through the history, reputation and legacy of some of the best known and loved cars in the world.
From the 80’s hot hatches that we have all lusted after, to tiny city cars that have zipped us around town, to engines that have redefined driving and design classics that started out as work horses before becoming national treasures, these are cars that have touched all our motoring lives.
Each episode will also see an 'intervention restoration' of an abandoned car. We'll save the car and explore its backstory, and that of the owners, before taking it back to Ant's garage for a complete respiration to his usual high standards. The episode will end with a bespoke high profile auction where the newly restored car is reunited with owner before being sold to the highest bidder.
Compiling the highlights from our 7 featured auctions, the final episode will see a selection of our newly restored cars being enjoyed on the open road as they start their lives with their new owners. We will also look back to some of the post-auction stories from Series 1, a year on from the sale of the cars, to see if the owner’s love affair with their car is still strong or if the reality of owning a temperamental classic has taken its toll.
• A primetime success for Channel 4 (UK), For The Love of Cars delivered a peak audience of 2 million viewers and exceeded the broadcaster’s slot average share by +61% for Men 16-44
