Description

Blue Murder tells the story of the co-existence between organised crime and police corruption - a relationship that has been mirrored throughout the world.

Based on actual events that occurred in the 'greedy '80's', Blue Murder is the story of upheaval in a Police Force set against a decade of excess and major criminal activity.

On opposite sides of the law during those days, were Detective Michael Drury, a white knight of the drug squad and leading herion dealer and armed robber, Neddy Smith.

The story begins with the senior corrupt police giving Smith the 'green light' - a license to commit any crime, provided the appropriate police are forewarned and are given a percentage of the takings. The one limitation on his activities is - 'never shoot a cop'.

At the same time Drury exposes a heroin ring which leads to the arrest of one of the major heroin suppliers, Alan Williams. Facing a long prison sentence, Williams, with the help of corrupt police, unsuccessfully attempts to bribe Drury. Desperate, he hires a notorious assassin to ensure Drury doesn't make it to court - and within weeks Drury is gunned down.

As he fights for his life, a search for the gunman begins but the investigation is hampered by lack of cohesion. Amid allegations of a cover-up, the police force splits into two camps. At the same time the Sydney underworld begins to purge itself in the notorious gang wars.
