Description
It’s 1960, and boy publisher Rupert Murdoch buys into Sydney suburban newspapers as a first step to moguldom which sees him confront Sir Frank Packer and his sons Clyde and Kerry. It’s to become an ambivalent relationship, sometimes conflicted, sometimes in alliance as Rupert moves on to evening newspapers, a national daily, television ownership and establishes a methodology that will take him onto the world stage. Sir Frank alternately despises and admires the pretender and when the story ends, their paths have diverged with the Packers having left newspapers altogether to establish new wealth in television and real estate. Rupert has bought their newspaper and has moved onto the big stage in London and has made his first forays into the US.
