Description

Three sisters – three very different women – thrown together by biology

Terminally-ill IVF pioneer, Julius Bechly (Barry Otto), makes an operatic confession: admitting he provided ‘anonymous’ donor sperm at his clinic, unofficially fathering an unknown number of children. But then he doesn’t die.

Julius’s one legitimate child, the good hearted but messy Julia (Maria Angelico), makes it her business to try and set things right. She decides to open her arms and welcome these new siblings as long as they can prove they are related with a DNA test. Julia organises a gathering where amongst a sea of prospective brothers there are only two sisters; troubled children’s TV star Roxy Karibas (Lucy Durack) and Julia’s childhood frenemy, belligerent lawyer Edie Flanagan(Antonia Prebble)

Three woman who are suddenly sisters: one sees family, one sees opportunity and one can only see a crime.

From the producers of Puberty Blues and Offspring, and with an all–star cast including Magda Szubanski, Catherine McClements, Roy Billing, Dan Spielman and Joel Creasey, Sisters explores what happens when a group of people from all walks of life are suddenly united by a genetic surprise. What if you found out, in a double bombshell, that you were the product of a sperm donor, and you have a squadron of adult siblings who wanted to meet you?

Would you let them into your life?
