Description
Jim (Peter Capaldi) and Sue (Sarah Parish) married young and 20 years later find themselves on holiday in Spain - an anniversary present from their children - with very little to say to each other. Jim needs to be prised away from his mobile and business; Sue wants to relax with a chick lit novel, while Jim's idea of fun is immersing himself in a heavyweight historical biography.
On discovering that their pool is shared with the adjacent villa, Jim and Sue do all they can to keep themselves to themselves but the glamorous young couple next door soon bring a new perspective to their relationship. Felipe (Juan Pablo Di Pace) has just asked Anna Madeley) to marry him and their apparently blossoming relationship throws Jim and Sue's into stark relief.
Jim and Sue's holiday goes from bad to worse when Sue falls asleep in the sun and suffers severe sunburn. Sue is confined to the villa to avoid the sun. When Felipe visits her Sue discovers that this relationship with Esther may not be love's young dream after all. JIm meanwhile spends his time with the young and beautiful Esther. Her horror at his advances create a dramatic climax that enables Sue and Jim to appreciate the value of their mature relationship.
