Description
Sidney Street for BBC One
Approximately 100,000 family farms form the backbone of the UK countryside; providing almost everything we consume including meat, fruit, vegetables and dairy produce. But it’s a tough life and making a living is getting increasingly difficult. Many have had to diversify and alongside their traditional farming business now offer farm stays, camping facilities, restaurants and farm shops.
Each episode focuses on two hard working families and their similar farms. What unites them is one big day in their farming calendar - from agricultural shows that attract tens of thousands, to food festivals and award ceremonies: this is a chance for them to showcase the fruits of their labour.
Standing out from the crowd is key: it means the difference between an endless struggle to make ends meet and being a flourishing business with a gold star reputation.
