Description

Shiny Button for Channel 4

The Curse is a crime caper set in London in the early eighties, following a gang of feckless small-time crooks who get accidentally embroiled in one of the biggest gold heists in the world, ever.

The Curse is written by the combined multi-BAFTA winning talents of Tom Davis & director James De Frond (Murder In Successville, King Gary), and Allan Mustafa, Steve Stamp & Hugo Chegwin (People Just Do Nothing) who also star alongside Davis as the calamitous cockney clowns. This is a working-class escapist comedy with broad appeal, mixing original character creations and hilarious set pieces with a tightly plotted thriller bursting with surprising twists and turns. The series is a fictionalized tale inspired by the true events of the notorious Brinks Matt robbery of 1983 where six armed men raided a depot near Heathrow Airport expecting to find £100,000 in cash, only to stumble across seven thousand bars of gold worth £26million.

Season two kicks off in Spain. 1985. Eighteen months have passed and while Mick languishes in prison, Albert, Tash and Sidney escaped and have started a new life on the Costa del Crime. But the gang soon realise they’ve jumped out of the frying pan and into a sizeable fire. They’re truly out of their depth here and the stakes are only getting higher - the Curse of the gold is threatening to engulf them all.
