Description
The series begins with eight talented interior designers arriving at a high-end, but completely unfinished apartment complex. The designers soon discover that each apartment has an electronic key-card machine on the front door, this becomes a format defining element within the show because this is how contestants discover if they remain in the competition, or if they have to leave. If the lights go green they stay, but if they go red they are locked out of the competition.
The host greets the contestants at the iconic apartment building and really gets under the skin of each of the contestants - this drives the narratives as they attempt to transform these bare apartments into spectacular spaces - but only one will ever call it home.
In each programme the contestants must focus on transforming a different room in the apartment, starting with bedrooms. Across the series, viewers will see spectacular transformations in every part of the home with wildly different designs and inspiring takeout. The pressure builds as they must contend with surprise design challenges and off-site ones where they must collaborate to remain in the competition.
As well as the lifestyle and interior takeouts baked into the challenges, viewers will get an insight into the character of each of the contestants as they go through this hugely challenging and high stakes process. We will follow the emotional highs and lows as the contestants step closer to winning a prize that will certainly change their lives and fortunes forever.
Each design challenge is overseen by an expert judge. Following the judging and feedback, each contestant must attempt to enter their apartment. Each has a personalised key card which they slot into a device which controls the door. With the card engaged an extraordinarily tense and heart-stopping process begins as a series of lights illuminate and seals the fate of the contestant. If the lights all go green, they can enter and compete for another week, but if they turn red, they must leave the competition for good.
Each week, one contestant is eliminated from the show based on their design prowess. In the final episode two designers go head-to-head. Ultimately, each makes the long walk along the corridor to their door, but which will be bathed in red light and which will get green and win the prize of a lifetime?
