Description

Firecrest Films for BBC Two

With full access to the Highlands and Islands Division of Police Scotland, this series captures law-enforcement in some of Europe’s most remote communities. It’s a huge area - the size of Belgium – that stretches from Shetland and Orkney in the far north, down through the heart of the Highlands to Glen Coe, and out to the windswept Western Isles.

Against a stunning backdrop of lochs, glens, islands and mountains, we follow officers as they deal with all manner of incidents, from deer poaching to drug running, and work closely with local communities to keep the peace. We see how police resources are stretched across this vast landscape, and reveal the unique challenges of tackling crime far from CCTV. And we show what it’s like to live and work in this stunning, but sometimes harsh, environment.
