At the center of the story is the literal and metaphorical search for William Allen Jordan. A serial bigamist, sexual predator and pathological liar whose crimes are both heinous and numerous. Victim and William’s ex-wife, Mary Turner Thompson, starts the pursuit, but as the series evolves, it becomes a baton race of women each seeking distinct and personal retribution.
At the heart of the series is the issue of truth and its meaning, the lies we are told and the lies we tell ourselves, and the search for justice, for honesty, for peace.
