Our story starts with the mayor Tom Eide, who finds out that similar investments have taken place in his city, and fears the worst. But to his surprise, he learns that the high risk investments have led to success instead of failure .Their pension funds have multiplied, and they have earned billions. This story is about what happens to a small community when it finds sudden wealth. How it affects the citizens, and how external operators try to get a piece of the cake .As the story progresses, the central government in Norway starts making moves to confiscate the money the city has earned in the stock market. They are then left with a dilemma: will they hand over the money, or splash it out before the government takes control over the remaining cash? They decide on the latter, and start a venture to be the first small community to participate in space travel. During the galactic journey the mayor gets stranded in space. From this remote place, lost among the stars, he narrates the story about his town.
