Blast! Films for BBC Two

The RNLI’s lifeboat crews are made up of six thousand volunteer crew members who are prepared to put their lives on the line 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, whatever the weather. This series tells the compelling stories of the men and women from the 238 lifeboat stations across the UK and Ireland who race to the rescue of those whose lives are in peril. Each and every one of them must be prepared to drop everything when the pager sounds.

Last year the crews responded to almost 9,000 call outs, and this series features some of the most dramatic rescues: from capsized kayakers to boat fires, from men overboard to hypothermic swimmers. With footage captured on the crews’ own cameras, this series takes us right into the heart of the action, bringing to life the extraordinary rescues through the eyes of the RNLI’s unsung heroes, and the people they’ve saved.
