Description

Whitworth for Channel 5

Experienced globetrotter Chris is fascinated by train travel: How the engines and tracks were built, how they are kept running and how they revolutionised remote communities. Join him as he explores some of the world's oldest and most stunning railway routes. Along the way there are breakdowns and unexpected detours.

In Season 6, Chris continues his pursuit of great railways and their stories this time across Europe, The Middle East and Africa

Chris heads to Transylvania to seek out the truth behind the story of Dracula and finds out how well theregion’s railway networks, meticulously described in Bram Stoker’s 1897 classic, have survived. Chris then heads to the crossroads of the world in search of a legendary long distance railway that played a crucial role in Turkey’s history.

Chris also travels through one of his favourite places, Ireland, on a mission to visit all four corners of the Emerald Isle in just six days. Finally, Chris arrives in Mombasa on the trail of what was surely the greatest, maddest railway endeavour of the entire colonial era, the building of the so-called Lunatic Line.
