According to a recent survey, the beautiful city of Bristol has the worst traffic congestion in England. We follow those tasked with getting it moving. With congestion so bad it has been dubbed ‘carmageddon’, Bristol city council has a plan to tackle the gridlock.
At one of the most advanced traffic control centres in the world, we see how state-of-the-art technology is helping to get cars, lorries and buses moving again. We also follow traffic wardens, tow truck drivers and CCTV operators as they do their best to enforce the Highway Code and ensure the public transport system runs smoothly. Their jobs are far from easy.
Drivers say it is a simple case of too many cars and not enough roads! Can the public servants keep cool in the face of exasperated drivers? Can they solve the traffic conundrum and avoid carmaggedon?
