Victor Kärppä was born and raised in Sortavala, a town in Russian Karelia inhabited by ethnic Finns. Yet he isn’t a Finn, or a Russian. Kärppä is a former KGB agent haunted by his past, with no one to trust, but trying to play it right. When he tries to settle in Finland, the country of his ancestors, and make a living as both a private investigator and business facilitator for Russian migrants, Kärppä finds himself tackling international organized crime.
