Minnow Films for ITV
An observational documentary, filmed over six months, following some of Britain's most severe sufferers of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Meet seemingly ordinary men and women terrified of doing basic everyday things – eating, drinking or sitting on a chair. Some are tortured by the thought they’ll become ‘contaminated’, others are haunted by doubt as to whether they’ve done something ‘properly’. All admit their fears are ridiculous, but OCD is wrecking their lives. At London’s Springfield Hospital we see patients being treated in Britain’s only 24/7 dedicated OCD ward.
When excessive hand washing leads to chemical burns, OCD can become a killer. Can people like 31 year-old Edward get their lives back on track? Full of warmth and humour, this film follows their moving journeys as they face deep-rooted fears head-on.
