Guy Béranger, a dangerous child murderer is at the end of his prison sentence. His release on parole to the custody of the monks at Vielsart Abbey leads to an outcry from the nearby small village and to the rest of the country.
The majority of the abbey’s monks are suspicious of bringing “a monster” into their peaceful enclave, however a young monk called Lucas sincerely wants to believe in Béranger’s redemption. But when a young girl disappears on the outskirts of the abbey, the entire village is in uproar. Chloé Muller, a young inspector based in Brussels, is assigned to the investigation to protect the despised Béranger, bringing her face-to-face with the fears and secrets of the seemingly peaceful local community. Confronted by a mob thirsty for their own renegade justice and a brotherhood prepared to preserve the reputation of their abbey at all costs, Lucas and Chloé will have to join forces in order to re-establish order and truth.
In season 2, Chloe Muller has just returned to the Federal Police when she is approached by the parents of a young girl named Jasmine who disappeared two years ago. Chloe is their last hope. She pieces the clues together only to realise that the disappearance is linked to her sister Jessica. She has to find her and knows the only way is with the help of convicted child murderer Guy Beranger.
Beranger, still confined in the custody of the local monks, trades his assistance for more freedom from the abbey. The trail leads to the Toy Maker, a charismatic man who is keeping a group of girls captive on a farm allegedly to preserve their purity. Amongst them Jessica, who hadn’t previously questioned her situation, realises the truth and befriends Jasmine to try to protect her from the Toy Maker’s brutality.
As Chloe’s quest brings her closer than ever to finding her sister, she needs to confront her past and maybe her future as her relationship to young monk Lucas moves into unknown territory.
In season three, Detective Chloé Muller is still frantically searching for her sister Jessica. The local police pick up the trace of Paul Van Acker, the 'Toymaker', in the same region where Guy Béranger killed several children in the past.
In the abbey of Vielsart, Béranger seems to have become the perfect monk, but he slips out of the monastery at every opportunity to stalk his next victim among the village. Can Lucas stop him before he kills again?
