Caroline Otero was born in Spain, the daughter of an Andalusian gypsy and a Greek Naval Officer. At the age of 11 she was raped and subsequently her rampage through the grander beds of 19th century Europe began as an act of revenge. Living through the Belle Epoque, Caroline was the most sought after of courtesans with a list of lovers that read like a Royal Who’s Who. However, at the height of her wealth, power and fame she threw everything away, squandering her fortunes in the casinos of Monte Carlo. Based on the biography by Carmen Posada and filmed in Spain and Argentina, the series recounts the decadence and darkness of Otero’s life. Directed by Jordi Frades and starring accomplished actress Natalia Verbeke.
