Description
When attractive 35 year old Natasha is chosen by Christopher through an internet marriage agency, she forsakes her native Russia - and the memories buried there - for a new life in London as Christopher's wife.
However Christopher has not been entirely truthful about himself and Natasha soon finds she is trapped in a sexless marriage, in a home dominated by Christopher's doting mother, one time chorus girl Dora.
Lonely and frustrated - more housemaid than housewife - Natasha despairs, until she meets the charismatic Eddie and they begin a clandestine affair. Unfortunately, when Natasha finally summons the nerve to leave Christopher, she discovers Eddie has also been economical with the truth.
Although disillusioned, she agrees to go back with Christopher and bide her time until they can work out a way to be together.
But their plans don't end there and Natasha, with her dream of love and a new life in London shattered, finds herself falling into a downward spiral of lust, deceit, and ultimately..murder.
Inspired by Zola's Therese Raquin, The Russian Bride is an original, contemporary take on a classic crime of passion.
