Split Decision is the most ruthless quiz show you’ve ever seen. Twelve contestants compete in round one, but only two go forward to round two. Whoever answers a question first can eliminate one of their opponents, so there’s a fair chance that the only word some people will get to say before being sent home is Goodbye! The two winners of round one are joined by a partner (husband, wife, father, daughter, etc...) in round two. Each pair receives 15 tokens to play with, each worth €50,000 – making them instantly rich! But can they stay that way? The game is played on a state-of-the-art game board, comprising 41 flat-screen monitors. Six screens at the top and bottom gradually decrease to only one screen in the centre. The pairs play towards each other and meet in the middle of the floor. By deciding how much of their money to place on various multiple-choice answers, both pairs try to keep as much of their money as possible. When they reach the middle, all the money that both pairs have left rides on the quickest correct answer to a single question. The winning pair takes it all into the final round. The aim in the final is to take as much money as possible to the other side of the game board. Again, they can hedge their bets by placing money on more than one multiple-choice answer. Whatever they have left when they reach the other side of the board, they keep! But, if they bet all their money on a single answer to the final question and get it wrong, they go home empty handed!
