Description
In Battle of the Elements, teams are challenged by the very building blocks of life. At the same time viewers will be given a guided tour of the past, present and future of these basic elements without which we wouldn’t exist… In each of the 10 weekly, 25-minute episodes of Battle of the Elements a team is given a specific assignment which involves them battling against one of the four basic elements. They could, for example, have to construct an object capable of keeping one of the team members airborne for no less than one minute (Air), or for water, they might have to turn 100 litres of salt water into 30 litres of drinking water. For earth the team might have to build a road network using a computer simulator and for fire they might have to weld together an object with the aim of making it as tall as possible. Each episode of Battle of the Elements will feature one six-person team. Each team will consist of people with shared backgrounds: families, sports enthusiasts, students, work colleagues, etc... Because each challenge demands a combination of specific knowledge, teamwork, speed and physical effort, teams will have to dig deep to successfully complete them. Before a team can face up to a challenge its members must try to get hold of as much equipment and information as possible to help them with their task. The host asks each team member a question relating to water, fire, earth or air. Each correct answer earns the team extra resources and/or crucial information. After earning as many tools and tips as possible the team has a limited amount of time to prepare for the challenge facing them. The programme follows the team’s construction efforts, the setbacks and social interaction within the group. Besides showing the team struggling to complete the challenge, each episode will contain three special reports. These will provide viewers with a closer look at the specific element featured in each episode of Battle of the Elements.
