Endemol Shine for Seven Network

Catching Milat is a dramatised version of the true story of how NSW police caught Ivan Milat – Australia’s most infamous serial killer.

The discovery of seven backpackers bodies are found in the forest South West of Sydney in 1992 and 1993, sparking Australia's biggest ever manhunt. Propelled by public outcry and Government pressure, a police Task Force is set up headed by the new face of Australian policing - Superintendent Clive Small (Geoff Morrell, Ned Kelly). Small is relatively young, ambitious, university educated and computer literate. However his ever growing team of investigators are the opposite – old school police who operate on gut feel and street smarts. The unit is divided from the beginning.

Catching Milat tells the dramatic, unpredictable and very real story of what happened inside that police unit. It’s a drama about two very different men trying to achieve the same result. It’s the story about different generations, a clash of cultures and the changing world of modern day policing. Set against the striking and sinister backdrop of the Belanglo State Forrest, this is the compelling true story of the law enforcers who tracked down and caught Ivan Milat.
